Description
A versatile new battery splitter for optimal charging and maintenance!VETUS battery splitters provide simultaneous charging of two battery banks from any charging source, with negligible voltage drop. A battery splitter may be considered as an automatic battery selector switch. It ensures automatic distribution of thecharging current from the alternator and/or the battery charger to all banks of batteries, while keeping them insulated as supply sources. This is possible because the electronics employed allow current to flow from the charging source to each of the battery banks separately, and not the other way round. In other words, it is impossible for one battery bank to discharge into another. Even if the battery for domestic services is (almost) exhausted, the starter battery will remain unaffected. Once the engine has been started, the alternator will automatically recharge all banks of batteries. As opposed to diode splitters, this alternative has negligible voltage dropdue to the use of MOSFET transistors instead of diodes (0.1V at 20A, instead of 0.7V). Therefore, the actual charging voltage is almost identical to the voltage provided by the alternator, ensuring optimum battery charging. There is no need to compensate the output of the alternator, even if that is possible. The new battery splitter features an auxiliary connection which provides feedback to voltage-sensed alternators. VETUS battery splittersare suitable for 12 and for 24V installations for two battery banks, and for one or two alternators. The maximum charging current is 150A.
